Under Attack? Put On The Whole Armour Of God - Joseph Prince Sermon Notes
We put on the whole armour of God by the means of PRAYING IN TONGUES
If you want to be liberated from the demonic spirit of heaviness, one of the best ways is to worship and praise God.
“To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”” (Isaiah 61:3 NKJV)
If somebody has wronged you, forgive the person for your own good. You were designed to operate by love, not by hatred or bitterness.
Ephesians 6:11-18 - Demons can manifest as spirits of infirmity and cause sickness.
The woman who was bent over for 18 years had a spirit of infirmity and she was healed by Jesus.
It's not always necessary to call out the demon by name in order to cast it out.
We stand because we are on victory ground. We pray from victory, not for victory.
A prayer made from desperation will not work. Pray knowing that God loves you.
The epistle to the Ephesians is divided into three parts: Wealth (rest, sit), Walk, Warfare (stand).
The devil wants to move you from the victory ground, but you must continue to stand on it.
All the part of the Armor of God represent doctrinal truths in the Gospel, not of the Old Covenant.
These are objective truths, not subjective truths.
If you have wrong believing in any area of these, that's where the devil will attack you.
Truth (as a belt): To hold your outfit together and to keep your weapons in.
Breastplate of Righteousness: Your inward man must be protected by knowing that you are the righteousness of God in Christ.
Gospel of Peace (as shoes): You will stand on firm footing when you have the gospel of peace.
Shield of Faith: Rely on believing in God for your justification rather than on your own obedience.
Helmet of Salvation: This helmet must be received.
Verse 18 if translated correctly like in Young's Living Translation should begin with the word "through" (in Greek: "dia".
We receive the helmet of salvation and sword of the spirit by the means of praying in tongues.
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—” (Ephesians 6:11-18 NKJV)
Keep the Whole Armor of God on you by Believing Right
Hebrews 12:20 - Mount Sinai is where the Law (Ten Commandments) was given.
The moment you take the place of depending on your obedience, the devil will fire his fiery darts at you.
The fiery darts are his accusations against you, trying to make you feel condemned.
When you pray in tongues, you can quench the fiery darts of the devil. It will combat against the anxieties and worries you have.
“(For they could not endure what was commanded: “And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow.”” (Hebrews 12:20 NKJV)
I Thessalonians 5:8 - You must know that you cannot lose your salvation.
If not, without the sure hope, there is a crack in your helmet of salvation.
“But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.” (I Thessalonians 5:8 NKJV)
The devil can quote from the Bible but it's never accurate. It's always for the purpose of deception.
A believer can never commit the unpardonable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
The moment you are saved, it is for eternity. We are held in Jesus' hand and also held in the Father's hand, totally enclosed and protected.
Our free choice is not so powerful - It is not possible for a believer to renounce Jesus and his/her salvation.
A sinner also cannot renounce the devil or his/her sinner-ship.
Sinners sin because they are sinners.
We are sinners because of Adam's sin. But by one Man's obedience (Jesus), we are made righteous.
What the Last Adam (Jesus) did is more powerful than what the First Adam did.
We are protected today because we are in Christ risen.
The Armor of God is God's Own Armor!
Isaiah 59:17-21 - The armor that we put on is God's armor.
The name of Jesus came from the west, but the glory of the Lord comes from the east - countries like China, Japan, Korea, etc!
God's words put into your mouth is talking about praying in tongues.
Don't worry that your children won't be saved - God will put His words into the mouth of your descendants and their descendants!
“For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak. According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay, Fury to His adversaries, Recompense to His enemies; The coastlands He will fully repay. So shall they fear The name of the LORD from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. “The Redeemer will come to Zion, And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” Says the LORD. “As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from this time and forevermore.”” (Isaiah 59:17-21 NKJV)
Romans 11:26-27 - Isaiah 59:21 and Romans 11:27 mean the same thing.
Praying in tongues is equivalent to God's taking away of your sins.
When Peter preached to Cornelius and his household, the Holy Spirit only fell on them when Peter talked about "the forgiveness of sins" -
They were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to pray in tongues.
“And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”” (Romans 11:26-27 NKJV)
Jude 1:20-21 - The word "faith" here is talking about believing in the gospel of grace, not a general type of faith.
When you pray in tongues, you're keeping yourself in the love of God - you'll feel conscious of His love for you.
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude 1:20-21 NKJV)
