Rivers: PDP Reveals APC, AGF Malami Plan To Cause Crisis

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi of plotting with Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami to use the Supreme Court to wreck constitutional crisis in Rivers State.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday, the spokesperson of the APC, Kola Ologbodiyan alleged that the acting Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN) Tanko Mohammed was under pressure by some desperate APC leaders to reverse the Supreme Court verdict excluding the APC from the just concluded governorship and State Assembly elections.

“We want to alert Nigerians of a fresh plot by desperate APC leaders working with Malami to cause a constitutional crisis in Rivers State,” he said.

“The acting Chief Judge of Nigeria, CJN, Tanko Mohammed is under mounting pressure to reverse the Supreme Court verdict excluding APC from participation in the governorship and State Assembly elections in the State.

“Nigeria can recall that the apex court had earlier ruled that the APC primaries were invalid and can’t be considered.

“In the February 23 and March 9, elections, APC was lawfully excluded from participation in the elections that were held in the state.

“Despite the use of violence, killings and compromised security agents to disrupt election process in the state, yet, the people expressed their voice at the polls in favour of the PDP.

“It is also a public knowledge that the APC adopted and bankrolled the AAC candidate but the people of the state were not deterred.

“In the face of all odds, the will of the people of Rivers State prevailed amidst brazen violence, rigging and manipulation.

“This demonstrated that the PDP is popular and accepted not only by the people of the State but all over the country.

“Now Amaechi is into a fresh plot going around the state giving the people the assurance that he has the ears of the acting CJN to reverse the political status of the APC to enable the party to participate in a planned fresh poll.”
