1. President Buhari explains why he is ‘Baba Go Slow’
President Muhammadu Buhari has replied critics who have referred to him as ‘Baba go slow”.
Speaking while responding to questions at a town hall meeting with the Nigerian community in Dubai, Buhari accepted the fact that he is “Baba go slow” but he does not loot the country of its treasury.
2. Supreme Court takes decision on sacked Balogun-Fulani faction of Kwara APC
The Supreme Court has struck out an appeal filed by members of the sacked Balogun Fulani-led executive committee of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State.
A five-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour today unanimously struck out the appeal for being incompetent.
3. Judge Presiding Over Okorocha’s certificate of return suit drops case
The Federal High Court judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, presiding over the case between the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has removed himself from the matter.
Justice Taiwo was presiding over Okorocha’s suit seeking to compel INEC to issue him a Certificate of Return as the Senator-elect for Imo West Senatorial District.
4. Atiku speaks on hiring US lobbyist to oust Buhari
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed reports that he hired a top United States lobbyist to help oust President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reports had emerged on Tuesday that Atiku Abubakar paid $30,000 to hire a US lobby group to persuade the US Congress to stop the inauguration of Buhari.
5. IMF warns Nigeria, others against taking loans from China
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has warned Nigeria and other developing countries against taking loans from China due to unfavourable loan conditions.
This was made known by the Financial Counsellor and Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the IMF, Tobias Adrian on Wednesday during the launch of the Global Financial Stability Report for April 2019 at the IMF/World Bank meetings in Washington D.C.
6. Fuel scarcity hits Ilorin, Port Harcourt
Fuel scarcity seems to have returned to major cities of Ilorin and Port Harcourt as our correspondent noticed long queues in the filling stations.
Some of the filling stations visited by Naija News on Wednesday also had their gates locked and the few dispensing the product have been besieged by residents.
7. Atiku disowns posters in circulation in Abuja
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has dissociated himself from some controversial posters that were seen in Abuja and its environs.
Naija News had reported sighting fresh posters of Atiku Abubakar in certain streets of Abuja which has already generated reactions from the presidency.
8. Abducted Lagos fire service boss, 6 others released
The Lagos State Director of Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau and six others who were abducted on Saturday have regained freedom.
Naija News reports that the victims were released in about three days after their Saturday’s abduction.
9. Why Igbos should expect nothing from Buhari’s second tenure – Okorocha
The embattled governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, says Igbos should expect nothing from President Muhammadu Buhari’s second tenure because they did not vote for him.
Naija News reports that Okorocha made this comment while addressing journalists on Tuesday at the Government House Owerri, before he left for Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
10. Onnoghen: IPOB attacks NJC, says council scared of Buhari
The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has lambasted the National Judicial Council (NJC), over its handling of the case against the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, IPOB noted that Onnoghen couldn’t have been found guilty by the NJC when no competent court of law had found him guilty.
